The ridge tiles have gone on and the whole project is now water-tight for the first time in over a decade!

Oct the roof is done

The roof is completed apart from the ridge tiles. It suddenly looks so different.

Notice the nice new flat roof finish too!

Sept - the slate goes back on but the weather has turned

Rain is now the biggest problem, partly because in it's current state part of the inhabited building will be prone to leaks and partly because it stops work.

Aug - still hard at it

We're still stripping the roof. Three sides are done and the last bit is nearly there. Thankfully the weather has continued to be fine.

July- getting on with the roof

New steel beams are required inside, mainly to sit the ceiling on, but in order to install them we need to make a hole in the roof. Since the slate is coming off anyway it's now or never.

Meanwhile the old slate and sarking are off and new sarking and fabric are going on. Unfortunately we couldn't save as much of the old slate as we had hoped, so it will all be new slate going b ack on rather than reclaimed.

Oh! and the temporary flat roof will need doing as well.

July

First the slate needs to be stripped, then the sarking replaced. Its a dirty, dusty job.

Later in June

The stone work above the doors has been repaired. 

Now for the roof.
