Dec

Well, we have started to dismantle the wheel well wall to extract the large tree. It's a big job and the lumps of wood are big and heavy. Then there is the problem of re-building it all!
Oh and it's still raining.

The workshop

Work has started on rebuilding the original outbuildings to form a workshop. This will house some of the timber and materials when we start to work on the stone building and link.

Early Nov

The celotex is on the ceiling, the quilt is up and the internal walls upstairs are underway.

The tree.

Well, the tree is huge and has done more damage than we thought. It has grown through the centre of the wall bowing it out quite significantly. The tree will have to be removed and the wall rebuilt. Not sure if the photos do the voracity of the tree justice though.

Oct- moving the scaffolding

...is proving harder than anticipated as the ash and sycamore trees growing in the wall of the turbine well have flourished this year. The chainsaw and axe have taken some punishment and we appear to have found where all the local baths used to come to die. (3 cast iron baths so far)
However, the scaffolding is going up on the stone building and people keep having near misses on the bridge from staring at the brick building rather than look where they are driving.

Late Sept - nothing to do

.....so I fixed the dry stone wall and weeded the drive-way. (Every little helps)

The cladding and gutters are up and the scaffolding is coming down

Thursday, 23 August 2012

The cladding is starting to go up.

The colour is 00-A-05 in case you are wondering

The Stairs, mind the step!

Tom - twpickford@aol.com has made us some stairs.
Very nice stairs with oak newel posts and stringers.
Now, I'm no expert Tom, but I think there is a bit missing!

We've lost a floor

The upstairs floor is being moved up a bit and needs to be replaced in places. The old one is stripped out and ready for the block work.

We have a floor!

The downstairs floor in the brick building went in just before the cold weather arrived. Hurrah! It looks bigger now too.
